Unleavened Bread

April 6, 2010

We are in the season of the year when we start to celebrate the Father’s Appointed Times The Spring Feasts. The first being “Passover”.  Passover starts the seven days of “Unleavened Bread”.

Many Christians today refer to the Feast incorrectly as Jewish and are led to believe that they do not apply to the Church today. That concept is totally in error, a misconception of Father Yahveh’s Word. There is so much instruction in each one of these Feast. Each Feast is a rehearsal of a major event in the Kingdom of Yahveh. Many times the lesson that’s taught is missed due to lack of Spiritual understanding and the importance attached to the Feast.

These Feast are not Jewish, rather they are The Feast of Almighty Yahveh. Appointed times that Father Yahveh set up for us to come together not only with one another but to gather together before The Creator of Heaven and Earth. Lev 23:1-2  And Yahveh spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of Yahveh you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.  Since these appointed times are declared to be Yahveh’s Feasts why would anyone ignore them? The only reason I can comprehend is that they do not place the proper importance on the Feast.I want to discuss in this article the “Feast of Unleavened Bread”. It is of utmost importance that we understand the lessons taught in this Feast. The Father set before us the way of life and the way of death. “Deut 30:15-16 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love Yahveh your Sovereign, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and Yahveh your Sovereign will bless you in the land which you go to possess.”

Up to this point the Christian Church has not had an exceptional record of obeying the Father’s commandments. Largely due to the fact we have been taught that the law did not apply to us. We have been freed from the law now that we have expressed our faith in Yahshua.

Since His Blood freed us from the Commandments, in essence The Law there would be no consequences for ignoring it. After all didn’t Yahshua come to free us? Certainly those Jewish feast did not apply to us we weren’t born a Jew and we weren’t expected to keep the Feast.  (Wrong!!) They have ignored the fact that we are commanded in: Ex 12:14-20 ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to Yahveh throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance. 15 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel. 16 On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat — that only may be prepared by you. 17 So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance. 18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening. 19 For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses, since whoever eats what is leavened, that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or a native of the land. 20 You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.'”

This feast teaches us to abstain from the leaven that causes the bread to puff up or rise. To take care that we don’t have the leaven that puffs up in our own lives. As we are careful to abstain from leaven during this time we are to be careful to stay away from religious attitudes and the traditions of man that tend to puff us up.

As yeast puffs up the bread and causes it to be magnified and to increase in size, so does the church doctrines and religious traditions that man brought into the church. Matt 16:6  Then Yahshua said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”  They did not understand what the Master was saying to them. Yahshua was talking about the puffed up attitudes of the religious leaders of that time.  Yahshua had spoken of teaching the traditions of men rather than the commandments of Yahveh. The Father said these feasts are a statue forever. If a Statue is forever it can never be rendered out of date and when he said for all generations that meant you and me. We are a generation.

Matt 16:11-12 NKJV How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? — but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”  12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. The word beware is not a soft word, it’s an alarming word of warning meaning to be aware of and be wary of in this case, the doctrines of the Pharisees. Steer clear of that tendency to justify yourself when you have omitted doing the Word of Yahveh.

Many times the Traditional Church has been puffed up with the church doctrines that contradict the Word of Yahveh. The leaven that puffs us up and makes us feel like we are in right standing when we have failed to obey. The Matzos that we eat is symbolic of obedience to Yahveh in our lives. Living in a manner that we abstain from the leaven of the lust of the flesh, the religious attitudes that contradict and nullify the Word of Yahveh and make it naught. The Father said very clearly in Deut 11:26-28 NKJV“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahveh your Sovereign which I command you today; 28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of Yahveh your Sovereign, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known. Several of the Churches of our town ignored the feast of Yahveh and joined together to pay homage to the pagan Deity Eostra With 14,000 dyed Easter eggs. This is the worship of another deity while ignoring the Feast to worship and honor Father Yahveh. Brother and sister you can call a pig anything you want to it is still a pig. Easter is the worship of pagan deities no matter whether you call it Christian or not. It is the same way they worshiped Eostrar thousands of years ago and it is the same today. If you call a pig a dog it is still a pig and will never be a dog whatever you call it.

We are commanded to keep the appointed times (the Feast) of Yahveh and we ought not to fail to do so. 1 John 2:3-6 NKJV He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His Word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. Obviously Yahshua kept the feast. We were told to keep them, whoever keeps His Word the love of Father Yahveh is in him. Are you keeping His Word ? Are you keeping His Feast? Is the love of  The Father truly perfected in you? I pray that it is.
